Talk about Trinity House
plus the speaker's maritime
career
Talk details updated - see below
Speaker:
Rear Admiral John Lang
Incorporated in the 1500’s, Trinity House operates Lighthouses, Lightships, beacons and buoys. It marks and clears wrecks, works on the development of electronic navigation tools, runs a substantial granting charity and is involved in training Merchant Navy officers and yachtsmen
.
John Lang will take us through their activities.
John started his sea career with P&O cargo boats, later switching to the Royal Navy and is a Former Chief Inspector of Marine accidents and has recently used his experience to write a book looking at the sinking of the Titanic.
In addition to advising us of the Activities of Trinity House, John will give us a quick canter through his own career from P&O to the Royal Navy and how he came to be the Chief Inspector of Marine Accidents. He proposes including something on what an investigator is looking for and how accidents are caused. He is expecting questions.
It should be a really interesting evening
